Most songbirds learn their songs, initially babbling, then stringing together incomplete or imperfect song phrases (plastic song), before finally crystallizing their song.
This young Carolina Wren is singing an assortment of songs, with a jeer call at 10s (July, NJ). Successive song phrases are all different, whereas adult males sing the same song many times before switching to a new one.
